Guama & the Caribbean Sea

A vast, virtually uninhabited swampy wilderness spanning the southern Matanzas, the 4520-sq-km Peninsula de Zapata, quickens the pulse of wildlife watchers and divers alike with the country´s most important bird species and some of the most magical off-shore reef diving secreted in the humid embrance.

It is the second biggest wetland in the World. It was declared Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 2001. Then when you arrived there you will be surrounded by nature.

It is time to forget the big cities and see our very big crocodiles, the red and black crabs, the cuban parrots, iguanas, our deers, the tree rats and much more.

Also the choice to visit the Cave of Fish in the Caribbean Sea for snorkeling or diving to see a big amount of colorfull fish adapted to see people around them. Then, if you have an underwater camera, you will optain incredibles pictures.

Around 1pm we stop to go to a nice farmer house to have the very best meal in Cuba.

In Guama there is a farm área with 4000 crocodiles and besides you can use an speed boat to cross the biggest lake in Cuba “ La Laguna del Tesoro” to arrive to many littles islands join by wood bridges where there were living many native cuban people ( spaniards called them indians).

Itinerary

  1. Pick up at the hotel in Varadero between 8 to 9 am.
  2. Stop at the Cave of Fish more than 1 hour.
  3. Lunch time.
  4. Visit Guama to see the crocodiles.
  5. Take the speed boat to visit La Laguna del Tesoro ( Treasure Lake).

This plan is a little bit flexible.
